Depot Team Leader

  • Job title: Depot Team Leader
  • Reports to: Mark Dearnaley
  • Department: Newburn Power Rental – Hire – YOR002
  • Location: South Kirkby
  • Hours: 40 hours per week

Description

Operating within the South Kirkby depot, though being flexible to meet the reactive work demands that can occur at anytime, anywhere in our depot regions. To supervise staff whilst being hands-on with the servicing and maintenance of our own and customers equipment. Responsible for the Health and Safety, organisation and motivation of those staff within your location ensuring all tasks are carried out quickly and efficiently showing care and consideration for company policy.

Prime Duties

  • Assist National Service Manager with responsibility for the safety of those staff under your control
  • To report any disciplinary matters to the National Service Manager so that they can be dealt with in accordance with the company hand book
  • Ensure that all damages and deficiencies are reported, in accordance with Company procedure
  • Liaise with customers, dealing with enquiries and breakdowns over the telephone when required
  • Organise the Engineers and Drivers daily and weekly workloads, liaising and working closely with the relevant Administrators and the National Service Manager
  • Ensure that the hire fleet is serviced and maintained whilst managing costs
  • Organise the 24 hour breakdown cover
  • Ensure that the depot is kept clean and tidy
  • Responsible for all equipment within the depot e.g. service vans, forklift trucks etc
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public
  • Carry out planned tool box talks and communicate any Health and safety information required
  • Carry out appraisals of engineering and labouring staff

Ancillary Duties

  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to all Company handbooks and policies
  • Ensure the completion of relevant paperwork is submitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Carry out inspection and electrical testing when required

Qualifications/Skills

  • Prior experience at supervisory/team leader level is essential
  • Fork lift/counterbalance licence desirable
  • Experience of the generator industry is an advance, however experience in any engineering, mechanical or service field would be sufficient

Depot Mechanical Engineer

Description

Operating within the South Kirkby depot, though being flexible to meet the reactive work demands that can occur at anytime, anywhere in our depot regions. Being hands-on servicing and maintaining our own and customers equipment.

The successful candidate is required to carry out the responsibilities below with high levels of attention to detail, professionalism and consideration for company policy. You should endeavour to carry out all duties with maximum efficiency, providing outstanding customer service whilst also optimising company profitability.

Prime Duties

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on diesel generators and associated equipment
  • Assist and participate in routine inspections including but not limited to depot, vehicles and assets
  • Make modifications and up-fit to diesel generators and associated equipment
  • Perform load-bank testing on units to identify possible problems and record findings
  • Diagnose and replace defective parts including but not limited to starter motors, charge alternators, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, drive belts and hoses
  • Rebuild engines to manufacturer’s tolerances using calibrated tools

Ancillary Duties

  • Ensure adherence to safety processes for both electrical and mechanical procedures using lockout/tag out method whenever possible
  • Carry out all works in accordance with Health & Safety legislation and company policy
  • Ensure the completion of relevant paperwork is submitted accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform all duties in an efficient, professional and courteous manner
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and general public

Qualifications/Skill

  • Ability to use electrical testing and calibration equipment to include but not limited to digital voltmeters, mega-ohmmeters, power meters and loop calibrators
  • Able to use mechanical tools to include but not limited to pipe threader, pillar drills, presses, grinders and cutters
  • Prior experience of use in rig and handling heavy objects
  • Fork lift/counterbalance licence desirable
  • Maintain adequate records
  • Ability to read and interpret e mechanical drawings
  • Prior experience of Welding using MIG is advantageous

Depot Service Engineer

To endeavour to carry out all duties with maximum efficiency, providing outstanding customer service whilst also optimising company profitability.

Prime Duties

  • Carry out service, maintenance and repair of own generators at our depot (s)
  • Carry out service, maintenance and repair of customers generators at our depot (s)
  • Testing of our plant, including load bank and RCD testing
  • Preparation of equipment for on-hire, including servicing, repairing, cleaning and testing
  • Servicing, maintenance and repair of own fork lift trucks
  • Apply proper engine technical skills in inspections and disassembly
  • Diagnose faults and repair of own and customers generators including but not limited to starter motors, charge alternators, head gaskets, seals, water pumps, drive belts and hoses
  • Assist in carrying out depot stock checks of plant and materials
  • Ensure that the depot kept clean and tidy

Ancillary Duties

  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to all Company handbooks and policies
  • Carry out all works in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and company policy
  • Ensure the completion of relevant paperwork is submitted accurately and in a timely manner

Qualifications/Skills

  • Prior experience in maintaining diesel generators between 14 kva and 1400 kva is desirable
  • Prior experience of changing oil and air filters is essential
  • Exposure with controller configurations and installations would be highly advantageous
  • Ideally qualified at Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC/HND or City and Guilds level in an Engineering discipline
  • Fork lift/counterbalance licence desirable
